PCS Set to Honor Five Good Samaritans at 24th Annual Awards Celebration on Wednesday, October 2, 2019

Manchester, N.H. – Manchester, N.H. – PCS Interim Executive Director, Calvin Genzel is pleased to announce that this year's Good Samaritan Honorees will be recognized on Wednesday, October 2 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Manchester Country Club, Bedford, NH.

Starting in 1996, PCS has honored more than 125 individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their communities. This year’s event will honor five individuals, all of whom were nominated by their peers for the distinguished recognition of a Good Samaritan.

"The Good Samaritan Awards recognize individuals who are selfless in their acts of kindness and compassion for others," said Cal Genzel, PCS Interim Executive Director. "This year we are honoring five individuals, including a husband and wife, all whom exemplify the true meaning of a Good Samaritan. All were nominated for their altruistic work in the community. We are excited to honor this annual tradition with these five amazing individuals who have taken extraordinary measures to help others and and improve life in New Hampshire."

2019 Good Samaritan Honorees Include:

Mary Georges, Founder, Victory Women of NH

Georges is the Director and Founder of Victory Women of Vision, a non-profit organization that helps women and families from Africa, and primarily the Congo, integrate into communities in New Hampshire. This includes helping them work through government bureaucracy, connect with community resources, access health care and education, find work, and establish a safe and healthy life here. In addition, she is a Selectwoman in Manchester's Ward 3, and a steering committee member of Women of the World of New England, the Congolese Association of the USA and the NH Alliance for Healthy Aging.

Erik Lesniak, VP of Business Development, NH Fisher Cats

In addition to his role as VP of Business Development for the NH Fisher Cats, Lesniak is an active member of the Queen City Rotary Club, a member of the Manchester Little League Board of Directors, an advisory Board member with the Manchester Salvation Army, a volunteer with InTown Manchester, a member of the War on Terror Memorial Fund Committee, and a volunteer with Caregivers, an agency that helps elderly and disabled persons remain in their homes as long as possible.

Susan and John Monson, Co-Founders, Brown Monson Foundation

The Monsons co-founded the Brown Monson Foundation, a non-profit and private foundation that supports national and international charitable, educational, artistic, and conservation programs. Additionally, Susan has done extensive volunteer work for several organizations, including the Girl Scouts, the NH Symphony Orchestra, the Currier Art Gallery, and the NH Audubon Society. John's volunteer activities have supported the Bedford Land Trust, the Safari Club international, and the NH Wildlife Heritage Foundation.

George Reese, Deacon, Bedford Presbyterian Church

Reese is an ordained elder and deacon at the Bedford Presbyterian Church. He was a driving force behind the establishment of Helping Hands, an organization focused on re-building homes following natural disasters, and the Bedford Community Food Pantry. A gifted organizer, George has a knack for recognizing community needs, inspiring others to help, creating work teams, and providing practical assistance to those in need, without calling attention to himself.
