PCS Announces Hiring of Juliane McGovern

I am happy to announce that Juliane McGovern, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Master-level Alcohol & Drug Counselor, has joined the PCS staff.

Juliane McGovern received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health from Antioch University, New England in 2013 and is dually licensed in NH as a Drug and Alcohol counselor and as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Prior to joining PCS, Juliane worked for 6 years as a clinician at The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester (MHCGM) in the Child & Adolescent department. While working at MHCGM, she became trained in evidenced-based practices that focused on trauma and family work, such as Child and Parent Psychotherapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Juliane has been working full-time as an elementary school Guidance Counselor in Manchester since 2022 and is at PCS part-time in the evenings.

Rev. Dr. E.C. Heath has joined the PCS Board of Directors

We are happy to announce that the Rev. Dr. E.C. Heath has joined the PCS Board of Directors.

The Rev. Dr. E.C. “Em” Heath (they/them) is the Pastor of the Congregational Church in Exeter. A native of Virginia, Em grew up there and in Winter Park, Florida. After graduating from college at Emory University, Em attended Columbia Theological Seminary where they earned a Master of Divinity and later a Master of Theology in Reformed Theology. In 2015 they also earned a Doctor of Ministry from Andover Newton Theological School.

Following ordination in the Presbyterian Church (USA), Em served as a chaplain specializing in trauma. They later transferred their ordination to the United Church of Christ, and served as a parish pastor in Vermont. In addition to pastoring, Em has written three books, the most recent of which is Called Out: 100 Devotions for LGBTQ Christians, published by Westminster/John Knox Press.

An interesting fact about Pastor Em is that unbeknownst to them at the time they were called as our pastor, their own ancestors were members of this congregation in the 17th and 18th centuries. Outside of church, Em enjoys fly fishing, LEGOs, reading literature and history, spending time with friends, and rooting for the Washington Commanders and Atlanta Braves. Most of all, though, they love spending time with their wife of over ten years, the Rev. Heidi Carrington Heath. Together with their two highly cranky yet thoroughly lovable orange cats, they live in Exeter.
